New Mix: … Really?

This mix has gone through multiple names and many incarnations of the past month before it settled with a very danceable vibe. I definitely spent more time on the turntables planning out the transitions before moving to Ableton to layout (and re-layout) the final mix. Bonus points* for anyone who can place where the intro is from.

The Evil Twin

I think this mix could have had a stronger disco vibe, but overall I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. The beat repeat on the first track is cool at times, a bit harsh at others.. depending on the headphones you use.. in a car it sounds fine.

Sleepless in Brooklyn

My new mix was my first time experimenting with mix creation in ableton live. I still used the turntables to sketch out the rough layout of the mix, but final arrangement was done in live. I know there’s two schools of thought on this, but I was more interested in trying it out, as every time I use ableton for over an hour I learn something new. This time was no different, and I can easily say that I will probably be doing more mixes this way.
